It’s been a little while since I last posted on my wedding photography blog, mainly because of how busy I’ve been photographing weddings across Gloucestershire and beyond.
This years’ wedding season started for me on 2nd January 2016 at the amazing Kingscote Barn (www.kingscotebarn.co.uk/), near Tetbury, Gloucestershire. The barn is truly beautiful, talking to the owner about it’s history was brilliant and clearly shows the love he has for it.
Kate & Sam approached me via email, it’s not unusual to meet a bride and groom before the big day, however this wasn’t going to happen in their case – they were contacting me from Australia, where they both live; Kate having grown up there and Sam moving there after growing up in Essex.
Kate got ready near to Westonbirt Arboretum, a stunning country cottage with the most amazing decor and was really fitting with their big day. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t in our favour and it rained for most of the day, but those who have spoken to me will know about the extra lighting equipment I carry with me in case of such “issues”!!
We moved onto Kingscote Barn where we met up with the groomsmen, who were in good spirits, it was at this point that the 30 or so guests started to arrive.
Following a brilliant ceremony we ventured outside to get some bride and groom shots, we used a white umbrella to shield them from the elements, and used of camera flashes to create drama in some images. This was also great for later in the day as it got dark early we were able to used flash to light the couple.
Some group shots were also taken using lighting inside the barn, ensuring that I could keep the texture of the walls and the country feel of the venue.
As the first couple of songs started to be played it was clear that the evening was going to be a really great party, myself and Matt (who second shot this wedding with me) wished the bride and groom all the best and hoped they had a great Honeymoon in Hawaii on the way home to Sydney for another blessing with the Australian family.
I wish Kate & Sam the very best for the future!
What a fantastic wedding, I hope you enjoy the images; don’t forget to get in touch if you’re getting married in 2017 and are looking for a photographer.
